What Families Often Ask Us

What does "facilitation" actually mean in practice?

We guide the conversation rather than run it for you. Our role is to help family members express what they think and feel about operational roles and handover, to surface assumptions, and to capture what gets agreed. We do not tell you what decisions to make — we help you make them together, more clearly.

How is this different from hiring a lawyer or accountant?

Lawyers and accountants handle legal structure, ownership, and financial arrangements — essential work, but distinct from what we do. We focus on the operational and interpersonal side: who manages what day-to-day, how knowledge passes between generations, and how to create a shared plan the family can follow. The two often work side by side.

Which service is the right starting point for our family?

Most families start with a brief call where we listen to your situation and suggest what feels proportionate. If roles are unclear but you are not yet planning a handover, the Family Roles Conversation is usually the right first step. If you are already thinking a few years ahead, Continuity Planning Support or the Operational Transition Roadmap may suit better.

Do all family members need to attend every session?

Not necessarily. The preparation call is usually with one or two people. Facilitated sessions work best when the family members most involved in operations are present, but we agree the format before each session. Some conversations are joint; others benefit from separate preparation conversations first.

How long does an engagement typically take?

The Family Roles Conversation is usually completed within two to three weeks including the preparation call, the session itself, and the written summary. Continuity Planning Support typically runs over four to eight weeks. The Operational Transition Roadmap is a longer programme, generally three to six months, paced to your family's schedule.

Is what we share kept confidential?

Yes. We operate with full discretion. Information shared during our engagements is not disclosed outside the work unless you specifically ask us to involve another party. We confirm the confidentiality terms at the start of every engagement.

Do you work with businesses outside Johor Bahru?

Our primary base is Johor Bahru, but we have worked with families across Johor and occasionally further afield in Malaysia. Sessions can be conducted in person at our office or at a location suitable for your family, and some preparation work can be done remotely.
